Wayanad Bangalore is one of the districts of Kerala which lies on the Deccan Plateau. Literally, Wayanad means the Land of Paddy in Malayalam. It is also referred to as the land of spicy hills. 

Some of the major tourist attractions of the area are- Edakkal Caves, Thirunelly Temple, Lakkidi  View point, Muthanga wildlife sanctuary, Chembra peak  and many more to mention.

How to Reach Wayanad?

Wayanad can be reached by using all modes of transportation. Wayanad does not have a railway station of its own and the nearest one is at Kozhikode which is 86 kms away. 

Wayanad is just two hours away from Kozhikode and upon reaching one can hire a taxi to reach the place. One can take the Yashwantpur-Kannur Express to reach Kozhikode.

Another way to reach Wayanad is by air, and the nearest airport is the Karipur International Airport at Kozhikode. A spicejet flight, no. SG1073 flies daily except on Tuesdays. Taking the road is also a fun filled way to reach Wayanad and a lot of students group travel every other week to Wayanad. 

The total distance ins more than 280kms and one can take their personal vehicles as well as the public transport system.

Wayanad Bangalore is considered as one of the less visited attraction and unexplored territory in Kerala. It lies on the Western Ghats and is considered as the home for different varieties of wild life. Along with the sanctuary and the tall hills, one could also spend some good time at the tea estates spread across the location.

Kelpetta is one of the largest towns and the district headquarters of the Wayanad. Visitors seeking information can get a lot from the office located in Kelpetta. 

There are numerous names which have been given to it, some of the names which can be mentioned are- Vynad, Vayandu, Vayanad, Wynad etc. Beautifully located in the pristine valleys and nestled in the western ghats, the nearest shore is located is 76kms away from it at Kozhikode.

The altitudes keep on varying from the range of 700 to 2100 meters above the sea level. Wayanad also has the highest levels of tribal settlements in the Kerala. You can also go through the wild life sanctuary which was constructed in the year 1973.
