Camping around Bangalore
Makali Durga- Gunjoor Lake
This place is situated 80 km from Bangalore in the area of Doddaballapura taluk. Camping at the banks of the lake is relaxing as well as adventurous with many activities like hiking, bamboo rafting, rappelling and hill climbing to choose from. It also houses a fort on its top and a temple dedicated to lord Shiva.
Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta
Bilikal is located at a mere distance of 60 km from Bangalore and is basically a hilltop. The view from hilltop is impressive and many a time’s elephants and other wild life animals can be spotted. An annual festival is also held in regard to the temple located on the hilltop. The altitude atop the hill offers pleasant and cool breeze.
Bheemeshwari fishing Camp
Spread on the banks of Cauvery river between the splendid shivasamudra falls and Mekedatu. Though the place is well equipped with lodges and log huts, camping around riverside is a wonderful experience. This place is also home to more than 200 species of birds adding flutter and life.
Beaches around Tunga River
Several beaches around Tunga River are apt for camping. The riverside is very sandy; as a result sandy beaches attract a lot of tourists. Activities are also organized at the camp if attended via a corporate group event.
Talakadu and surrounding areas
Talakdu is another small town on the banks of River Kaveri and is approximately 180 km away from Bangalore. This is the best picnic spot for families and kids.

A man made reservoir 18 km away from Bangalore, hesaraghatta is a freshwater lake and an off best vacation spot. It is one of the few places around Bangalore to sight kingfishers, bulbuls and purple sun birds. Of course the freshwater is a temptation to dive in.
