How to reach Kumarakom from Bangalore

Bangalore to Rameshwaram by Train

There are not many direct trains from Bangalore to Rameshwaram. The best option is to take a train from Bangalore either to Tiruchirapalli or Madurai stations. Tiruchirapali is approximately 229 km away from Rameshwaram, whereas Madurai is approximately 180 km away. Prefer Madurai, as there are more trains available for Madurai. However, train journey to Rameshwaram via tiruchirapalli or Madurai is very time consuming. It is more than 12 hours journey.

Mysore - Mayiladuturai Express/16232 – departs Bangalore station at 6:45 PM & arrives at Tiruchirapalli 4: AM (next day); runs on all day.

Trains from Bangalore to Madurai

(First two trains are available from Bangarapet railway station – approximately 71 km away from Bangalore city via rail).
  • 16339/Mumbai CST-Nagercoil Express – departs Bangarapet junction at 12: 05 P.M and arrives Madurai station at 21:00 P.M; runs only on Sunday, Monday, Thursday and Friday.
  • 19568/Okha Tuticorin Vivek Express – departs Bangarapet junction at 18:25 P.M and arrives Madurai station at 03:20 A.M.
  • 16537/Bangalore City –Nagercoil Express – departs Bangalore city junction at 23:05 and arrives at Madurai station at 9:00 A.M (next day); runs only on Thursday.
  • 11021/Dadar - Tirunelveli (Chalukya) Express – departs Yesvantpur Junction at 22:00 P.M and arrives at Madurai station at 08:05 (next day); runs only Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Bangalore to Rameshwaram by Air

Rameshwaram doesn’t have an airport. The nearest airport to Rameshwaram is Madurai airport, approximately 168 kms away. There are ample flights from Bangalore to Madurai every day.
From Madurai there are buses to Rameshwaram after every ten minutes. One can also opt for train. There are many trains from Madurai to Rameshwaram.

However, there are many direct KSRTC buses to Madurai & tiruchirapalli, from their you can either catch train or bus to Rameshwaram.
